National Epidemiologic Database for the Study of Autism in Canada (NEDSAC)
Welcome to the new home page for the National Epidemiologic Database for the Study of Autism in Canada (NEDSAC). This webpage will give you an overview of our research, as well as an introduction to regional teams across the country that assist us in ASD surveillance. NEDSAC was established in 2001 with funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), as part of the Autism Spectrum Disorders – Canadian-American Research Consortium’s (ASD-CARC) research program. Under the direction of “Hélène Ouellette-Kuntz, the goal of NEDSAC is to investigate the epidemiology of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) in Canada. NEDSAC’s Coordinating Centre is based at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. The Coordinating Centre is involved with managing data and data analysis, developing new protocols, and monitoring adherence to ethical requirements. It also functions as the data collection centre for P.E.I., Newfoundland and Labrador, and Southeastern Ontario.
